HFX Gifts — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

HFX Gifts (“we”, “us”) operates hfxgifts.com and related shopping experiences so we can take and fulfill your orders for custom and ready-made gifts. Our store is powered by Shopify. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in Canada.

We follow the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) for commercial activities. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy on privacy matters, this Privacy Policy controls.

Who to contact

For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or complaints, email sales@hfxgiftsandprints.com and mark the subject “Privacy”. Postal: 90 Hogan Crt, Bedford, NS, Canada.

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you use the store, we may collect:

  • Contact details — name, email, phone, billing and shipping address
  • Order & custom-job details — items ordered, personalization text, photos or files you upload, notes, quotes, deposits
  • Payment information — processed by Shopify and payment providers (we do not store full card numbers on our own servers)
  • Account information — if you create an account (email, password, preferences)
  • Communications — emails, contact-form messages, and support chats
  • Device & usage data — IP address, browser/device type, pages viewed, and similar analytics or cookie data

How we use personal information

  • Process orders, deposits, payments, shipping, pickup, remakes, and refunds
  • Produce custom work using the details and files you provide
  • Respond to questions and provide customer support
  • Send order updates (and marketing emails only where permitted — you can unsubscribe)
  • Prevent fraud, secure the store, and improve the site
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

Where information comes from

We collect information directly from you, automatically through the website (cookies and similar tools), and from service providers who help us run the store (for example Shopify, payment processors, shipping carriers, and email tools).

Sharing personal information

We share personal information only as needed to run the business, for example:

  • Shopify and apps installed on our store
  • Payment processors
  • Shipping and fulfillment partners
  • Professional advisors (accountant, lawyer) when required
  • Authorities when the law requires it

We do not sell your personal information. Some advertising or analytics tools may use cookies in ways that privacy laws in certain regions treat like “sharing” for targeted ads — see Your choices below.

Transfers outside Canada

Shopify and some service providers may store or process data in other countries (including the United States). Those providers are required to protect personal information under their contracts and applicable law, but local laws may differ from Canada’s.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above — for example order and tax records for the periods required by law — then delete or anonymize it when it is no longer required, subject to backup and legal holds.

Safeguards

We and our providers use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to a small ecommerce business. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Your choices & rights

Subject to PIPEDA and other applicable law, you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. You may withdraw consent where we rely on consent (this may limit our ability to provide certain services). You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages; we may still send transactional messages about your orders.

Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply. Shopify also provides tools and portals related to data it processes — see Shopify’s privacy portal and the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.

Children

Our store is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in their province or territory.

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for the cart, checkout, security, and to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work if cookies are blocked.

CASL (commercial email)

We send commercial electronic messages in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Marketing emails are sent only with appropriate consent, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe mechanism.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.

Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
